The Elves of the Ancient Forest

Deep amongst the immense trees of the Ancient Forest live the Wood Elves of Teralim. These wise people long ago left the cities and towns across the continent in favor of returning to a natural state. Nobody knows how long ago the Wood Elves left their bretheren, but over their timeline they have become the most at peace and one with the nature around them. It is uncommon for Wood Elves to receive visitors at their home. This is due to both their transient nature and the dangers of the Ancient Forest itself. It is on no schedule when they decide to move their camps amongst the trees, but when they have you would never know they had even been there, and not even the most seasoned Ranger could tell you the name and nature of every creature who shares the trees.

p.Though they do not have a standing army, it would be a fool who thought a lone Wood Elf woman could not defend herself with years of martial training. Elves are nearly ageless creatures, thus making it difficult to tell someone who is 40 from someone who is 400. Often for all their life an Elf will practice their craft, not for the gain of it, but purely the impossible pursuit of perfection. Many Wood Elves decide to become practitioners of a single craft, becoming Master Brewers or Herbalists, though some utilize minor skill as an artisan to supplement their less lucrative lifestyles of being a Ranger or Druid.

On occasion a young Wood Elf will develop a keen wanderlust to see the world beyond the trees, or a curiosity to meet more of the creatures of the world. So often do these Wood Elves never return to the trees. They find their homes far off in lands they feel a connection to. Even today you may find an Elven Ranger atop a lonely peak, keeping watch over the land, or a Druid at the oceanside aiding a fish washed ashore. And though many of society see them as miscreants for their wild ways, you will be hard pressed to find one truly evil.
